New Delhi: BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan on Monday welcomed the implementation of the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, describing them as a historic step that reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of self-reliance and democratic consensus.

“PM Modi's breakthrough GST reforms are a monumental triumph for parliamentary democracy and his nationalistic vision for self-reliance. They have inspired a new dimension to embrace ‘Swadeshi’ today and tomorrow,” Kesavan said in a statement posted on X.

He credited the reforms with aligning India’s taxation system more closely with national priorities, arguing that the changes would encourage both domestic production and consumer confidence. According to Kesavan, the emphasis on ‘Swadeshi’ through tax reliefs on essential goods and sectors demonstrated the government’s commitment to long-term economic resilience.

Turning to the opposition, Kesavan sharply criticised the Congress and the INDI alliance, claiming their approach to governance was narrow and family-centric. “The Congress and INDI alliance’s motto is ‘Parivar Nirbhar Bharat’,” he alleged, contrasting it with the government’s narrative of “Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
