Delhi: CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has sharply criticized the National Economic Survey, calling it "propaganda and spin" and pointing out significant economic challenges facing the country.

Yechury stated, "It's all propaganda and spin. The actual reality is that food inflation is at 10%, and it is crippling people's livelihoods. That doesn't find mention. Unemployment - 80 lakh jobs have to be created every year for the next 20 years. What was created in the last 10 years? There has been a decline."

He also addressed issues of poverty and malnutrition, saying, "Basic issues concerning people's lives - poverty reduction...more than a billion people require subsidised or free food to survive is what the United Nations report shows. This Government admits that nearly 80 crore people are actually surviving on free ration. We have the highest rate of child malnutrition in the world."

Yechury accused the government of data manipulation, stating, "These statistics are all a complete deceit, data fudging has become a norm with this government today and that is really degrading India's position globally in the sphere of economics."
