The Rouse Avenue Court has taken cognizance of a defamation complaint filed by BJP leader and former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar against Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. Chandrasekhar claims that Tharoor, during a national television interview, falsely accused him of bribing voters in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency.

Chandrasekhar has argued that the statement severely damaged his reputation and played a role in his loss during the 2024 Lok Sabha election. He asserts that Tharoor’s remarks were baseless and intended to harm his public image.

With the court taking up the case, legal proceedings in this politically significant defamation suit are set to move forward.
