New Delhi: Congress leader Udit Raj on Friday commented on India’s plans to host a Taliban minister next week, expressing cautious observation about the engagement and its implications for foreign relations.

Speaking to the media, Raj highlighted India’s history of managing complex diplomatic ties and compared the current situation with past portrayals of India’s relationships with other global powers. “They make a lot of publicity. Whenever PM Modi tries to show that they are succeeding, they always fail. Like in the case of China, they show that they are having good relations. Similarly, with the US, they showed that they have good relations, but it’s quite the opposite,” he said.

Raj emphasized Afghanistan’s proximity and strategic importance, noting that developments in the neighbouring country have direct implications for India’s security and foreign policy. He added that the upcoming visit by the Taliban minister will provide clarity on the evolving diplomatic dynamics. “Afghanistan is our neighbouring country. Let’s see what happens,” he remarked.
