New Delhi: Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday said the party will demand detailed discussions on major foreign policy issues at the all-party meeting scheduled for November 30. The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, comes ahead of the short winter session of Parliament, which the Congress leader described as “only a formality.”

Speaking to reporters, Ramesh said the Congress intends to seek clarity from the government on several critical matters, including recent statements by the US President, ongoing bilateral trade agreements, and India’s stance on China. “An all-party meeting has been called on the 30th November, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. We will definitely demand that US President's statements, trade agreements, and issues of China be addressed in the meeting,” he said.

Ramesh expressed scepticism about the effectiveness of the upcoming session, which spans just over two weeks. “This session, which is only for 15 days, is a formality,” he said, arguing that previous all-party discussions had not translated into transparent parliamentary action. “I do not know what the government is going to do because the government says one thing in the all-party meeting and does something else.”
