The Congress on Thursday sharply criticised the central government after reports emerged that a United States commission had mentioned “Pakistan’s military success over India” during a four-day clash in its latest assessment. The party described the reference as “yet another severe setback” to India’s diplomatic standing and questioned the government’s silence on the matter.
Addressing the media, Congress leaders said such claims by an international body not only misrepresent historical and strategic realities but also undermine India’s global image. They argued that the government’s foreign policy approach, which they have repeatedly called “publicity-driven,” was failing to protect India’s interests abroad.
The party demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarify whether they intend to formally object to the report. “Will the Prime Minister, who often speaks of India’s global stature, take up this issue with the seriousness it deserves? Will the MEA lodge a strong protest and seek correction?” the Congress asked.
