New Delhi: Political tensions escalated on Monday after Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat lashed out at BJP leader Nishikant Dubey for his recent social media post that linked the 2013 Kedarnath tragedy to a Cold War-era American nuclear device and took a dig at the Nehru-Gandhi family.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dubey questioned whether the tragic 2013 floods in Kedarnath were caused by a nuclear device allegedly lost by the U.S. in 1960 during a secret mission on Nanda Devi. He went on to suggest that the Nehru-Gandhi family had "bowed before America" and implied negligence or complicity.

Responding sharply, Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat said, “Nishikant Dubey should join the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). He will play a better role there instead of in politics. We are talking about the future, but they are suffering from Nehru-Gandhi phobia.”

Bhagat accused the BJP of repeatedly deflecting from present-day issues by invoking the legacy of the Nehru-Gandhi family. He emphasized that such remarks divert attention from governance and the challenges facing the nation.
