Patna, Bihar: As speculation grows over AIMIM's possible entry into Bihar's opposition grand alliance, Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat has stressed that any such coalition must be rooted in ideological alignment, not just electoral arithmetic. His remarks come amid internal deliberations within the INDIA bloc regarding potential new entrants ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
“An alliance should be based on ideology. It should be built around core principles, not just formed during elections,” Bhagat stated, underlining that shared political values must remain the foundation of any coalition. He emphasized that secularism and constitutional values should guide alliance-building efforts in a politically sensitive state like Bihar.
Bhagat, while not rejecting the AIMIM's interest outright, added a note of caution. “We, along with other members of the INDIA alliance, want all secular voters, those who believe in the Constitution, to unite on a common platform. This is a positive step. However, our senior leaders in the INDIA alliance will review all aspects and take a final decision.”
