New Delhi | Congress MP Rajeev Shukla expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, hailing his contributions to India's governance and economy. Calling it a "huge loss for the country," Shukla reflected on Singh’s transformative leadership during challenging times.
"This is a huge loss for the country. The kind of governance he gave to the country, very few Prime Ministers have given it," Shukla remarked. He lauded Dr Singh’s pivotal role in steering India through an economic crisis, emphasizing the lasting impact of the reforms he introduced.
Dr Manmohan Singh, often referred to as the architect of India’s economic liberalization, served as the country’s 14th Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014. Prior to this, as Finance Minister in the 1990s, he introduced structural reforms that revolutionized India’s economy, opening it to global markets and fostering growth.
"When the economy had completely collapsed, Manmohan Singh brought economic reforms and brought changes to the country. The country is benefiting from it till date," Shukla added, underscoring the enduring significance of Singh’s policies.
As tributes pour in from across political and social spectrums, Shukla's sentiments highlight the admiration and respect Dr Singh commanded as a leader, economist, and statesman. His legacy, marked by humility, intellect, and a commitment to inclusive development, remains an inspiration for generations to come.
