Congress Member of Parliament Manish Tewari has sharply criticized the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for its recent bailout package to Pakistan, calling the move “extremely unfortunate.” Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Tewari raised concerns that the funds, rather than being used for Pakistan’s development, are instead strengthening terrorist networks that destabilize the entire region.

“It is extremely unfortunate because the money which goes to Pakistan does not go for the development of the people of Pakistan,” Tewari said. “It goes to strengthening these terror networks, which then they use to create mayhem in the entire region.”

Tewari pointed out that Pakistan's financial mismanagement and support for terrorist groups have been longstanding issues, yet the IMF continues to offer financial support, seemingly without regard for the end use of the funds. “The 'sympathy' of the International Monetary Fund towards Pakistan is clearly unwarranted because they are being deliberately oblivious as to how that money is being used,” he added.
