Delhi: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the functioning of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), alleging procedural lapses and lack of transparency in its operations. Addressing the media on Friday, Gogoi highlighted several issues, including the sudden suspension of 10 committee members and abrupt changes to the meeting agenda.

“We have never seen a JPC in which 10 members were suspended altogether,” Gogoi said, criticizing what he called an unprecedented move. He pointed out the absence of prior notice and meaningful consultation regarding the committee’s agenda. “Without any notice, the dates of the meeting are announced. Without holding any consultations with us, the agenda of the meeting is changed,” he added.

Gogoi accused the JPC of following a “pre-mediated roadmap” that disregards the input of committee members. He further raised concerns over a notice stating that the committee would convene on the 24th and 25th, allegedly issued without consulting any stakeholders.

To address these grievances, DMK MP A Raja has written to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, demanding an opportunity for stakeholders to present their views. “A Raja has written a letter that we will be giving to the Speaker in which we are demanding time to have a discussion on the views of the different stakeholders,” Gogoi said, expressing hope for a constructive response from the Speaker.
