Gurugram: Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda on Tuesday held the BJP government responsible for what he described as the worsening condition of Gurugram, once promoted as India’s “Millennium City.”

Speaking to the media, Hooda said the city, which houses several Fortune 500 companies, had developed significantly under Congress governments but has now deteriorated under BJP rule. “If anyone is responsible for the poor condition of Gurugram, it is the BJP government. Once known as the Millennium City, home to several Fortune 500 companies established during Congress rule, Gurugram has now turned into ‘Gurujaam’,” Hooda remarked.

The Congress leader pointed to frequent traffic snarls, inadequate infrastructure, and civic issues such as waterlogging and pollution as key challenges facing the city. He alleged that despite promises, the current government had failed to deliver on urban planning, transport management, and environmental safeguards.

Hooda further said that Gurugram’s global reputation as a business hub was at risk unless corrective measures were taken. He urged the government to focus on sustainable urban development, improve infrastructure, and provide relief to residents struggling with daily congestion and poor civic services.
