Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh has sharply criticized Union Minister Piyush Goyal following the latter’s response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent statement imposing a 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods. Singh accused the government of failing to address the full scope of Trump’s comments and misleading the public on the implications for India’s economy and agriculture sector.

In his statement, Singh said, “The Government of India is misleading the nation. Piyush Goyal did not mention Trump's tweet even once, in which he said that India's economy is dead. His address was very disappointing.” He further warned that if any trade deal compromises the interests of Indian farmers, the Congress party will launch a protest.
