Mumbai: Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh has reiterated the INDIA Alliance's call for the use of ballot papers in elections, citing a lack of confidence in electronic voting machines (EVMs). Speaking to the media, Deshmukh stated, “The INDIA Alliance has urged that ballot paper be used for voting because there should be no room for doubt in elections. The Election Commission of India claims they conduct free and fair elections, but voters, candidates, and parties are skeptical.”
Deshmukh expressed concerns over the outcomes of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, labeling the results as “shocking” and urging the Election Commission to address the growing doubts surrounding EVMs.
Switching to the political landscape in Maharashtra, Deshmukh took aim at the ruling Mahayuti coalition, highlighting its internal discord. “Mahayuti had claimed that they are united, but they are struggling to mutually decide the next Chief Minister. This clearly indicates that all is not well within their party,” he said.
Deshmukh’s comments come amidst growing speculation about cracks within the Mahayuti coalition and ongoing debates on electoral transparency. His statements underscore the opposition’s demand for electoral reforms and scrutiny of the ruling coalition's stability.
