New Delhi — Congress leader Udit Raj has sharply criticised the Election Commission of India (ECI) following its response to Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s claims regarding irregularities in the voter lists during the Maharashtra and Bihar elections.

Speaking to the media, Raj said, “The Election Commission of India did not give any answer about the fake voters who were added and deleted. The Election Commission also did not explain how the number of voters added in five months could be more than the number of voters added in five years.”

He further alleged that the ECI refused to provide video footage that could clarify the situation. Raising concerns over the commission's transparency and independence, Raj said, “Whenever questions are raised on the Election Commission, the BJP becomes its shield. There is an elected autocracy in India.”
