Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala strongly criticized the Kerala government for granting in-principle approval to Oasis International Company to set up a distillery and brewery in Kanjikode, Palakkad district.

Speaking to the media, Chennithala alleged that the decision violates long-standing rules enforced in Kerala since 1999, which restrict such establishments. "The state government has previously attempted to issue permits for distilleries and breweries, but opposition from various quarters forced them to withdraw," he said.

Chennithala accused the government of bypassing established rules and procedures. "Without following any rules or procedures, they have now given approval to a company for producing ENA (Extra Neutral Alcohol)," he stated, adding that this reflects poorly on the government’s transparency and commitment to governance.

The Congress leader further criticized the cabinet’s handling of the matter, claiming that it undermines public trust. "This decision shows a blatant disregard for existing norms and sets a dangerous precedent," he added.
