BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh on Wednesday intensified criticism of the Congress amid internal discussions within the party, alleging confusion over who actually constitutes its high command. Speaking in Delhi in response to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent statement, Vallabh said the party suffers from leadership ambiguity that is increasingly visible ahead of electoral cycles.
“The biggest illusion of the Congress Party is who is the high command there?” Vallabh remarked, questioning the chain of authority within the organisation. He said that while the Congress president should ideally be the final decision-maker, the perception persists that an authority higher than Kharge controls key decisions. “We thought that the Congress National President would be the one to take decisions, but there is even a position above the Congress President,” he added.
Vallabh further alleged that internal rivalry within the Congress is being driven by the expectation of political advantage in Karnataka, where the party currently governs. “This situation is arising because in the upcoming elections, Congress is going to the lowest level in Karnataka,” he claimed, arguing that party leaders are motivated by self-interest rather than governance.
Continuing his attack, the BJP spokesperson said Congress leaders are treating the government like an opportunity for “corruption laddoos”, and accused the state administration of mis-governance, nepotism, and policy failure. “Today, Karnataka, which was considered the IT engine of the country, has been turned by Congress into a specimen of misgovernance, corruption, and nepotism,” he asserted.
