Ranchi, Jharkhand: Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir voiced strong confidence in the victory of the Hemant Soren government in the ongoing Jharkhand Assembly elections. Speaking to the media, he criticized the BJP for what he described as a subdued campaign following the first phase of the elections.
"The BJP has hidden their face after the first phase of the election here. In the second phase, they have done face-saving efforts. The people of Jharkhand have voted for the Hemant Soren government," Mir remarked.
Highlighting the public's trust in the current state government, Mir added, "We are going to win more than 50% of the seats." He emphasized that the Soren-led coalition's track record in governance and welfare initiatives has resonated with voters, ensuring widespread support across constituencies.
The elections in Jharkhand have been marked by intense campaigning, with the BJP and the Congress-JMM-RJD alliance vying for control of the 81-seat assembly. While BJP leaders have claimed optimism, the Hemant Soren government has banked on its performance and coalition strength to retain power.
As the counting day approaches, political observers are closely monitoring the voter turnout and constituency-wise dynamics, which could be critical in deciding the state's political future. For now, the Congress and its allies are exuding confidence, while the BJP remains cautious in its public statements.
