Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: In a sharp attack on the Congress party, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday labelled the implementation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir as a "sin" committed by the Congress government. Addressing a gathering, the CM launched a scathing critique of what he called the Congress’s history of undermining constitutional values and democratic institutions.

"The sin of implementing Article 370 in Kashmir was committed by the Congress government," Adityanath said, adding that the series of anti-democratic actions began right after the Constitution came into effect. "Congress-led governments started trampling fundamental freedoms immediately after the Constitution was implemented," he said.

He traced a timeline of events, starting from the early 1950s, peaking during the Emergency in 1975, and culminating in what he described as the "massacre of Sikhs in 1984." He also referenced Rahul Gandhi's dramatic tearing of an ordinance in Parliament during the UPA era, calling it a direct insult to the Constitution.

"These acts are undemocratic. They are against the spirit of the Constitution and an insult to India’s freedom fighters," Adityanath remarked. The Chief Minister’s comments come amid rising political temperatures, with the BJP continuing its ideological campaign to discredit Congress’s legacy ahead of upcoming elections.
