New Delhi | After conducting an on-ground inspection at Ring Road, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized the previous government's neglect in addressing critical issues like encroachments and inadequate flood management, which contributed to the current drainage problems.
“It’s clear to see how the previous government failed to heed warnings, overlooked encroachments, and avoided making tough decisions,” Gupta remarked, stressing the severity of the situation. The CM pointed out the massive amounts of silt being released from the city's drains, highlighting the poor condition of the drainage system.
Gupta further mentioned that numerous machines have been deployed to desilt drains, with the Public Works Department working round-the-clock to tackle the problem. “Whether it’s the desilting of drains, the Public Works Department's efforts, or flood management, we are all working tirelessly to ensure that Delhi is protected from future floods,” she added.
