Porvorim, Goa – Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah following the passage of a bill in the Lok Sabha concerning the readjustment of Scheduled Tribe (ST) representation in the Goa State Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to the media, Sawant said, “I thank Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The BJP’s double-engine government has passed this bill in the Lok Sabha. I am confident that this bill will also be passed in the Rajya Sabha.”
The proposed legislation aims to ensure appropriate political representation for Scheduled Tribes in the state assembly, following recommendations from the Delimitation Commission and long-standing demands from tribal communities in Goa.
Sawant emphasized that the development marks a significant milestone not only for the tribal communities but for the entire state. “This is a matter of pride not only for the Scheduled Tribes but also for Goa,” he added.
