Guwahati, Assam: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday distanced the Assam government from the ongoing dispute between the Congress party and the Election Commission over the special revision of electoral rolls. Responding to remarks made by Congress leaders, Sarma said the matter lies strictly between the political party and the poll body.

“This is between the Election Commission and the Congress party. We have nothing to comment,” he said, emphasising that the revision process is guided solely by the Election Commission’s rules and procedures. Sarma noted that the Commission has already issued its guidelines, and any grievance must be addressed directly through the proper institutional channels.

“Congress party, if they have any problem, let them move to the Election Commission,” he stated. “Let them give a memorandum to the Election Commission of India.”
