MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday hailed the WAVES Summit 2025 in Mumbai as a historic platform that is set to redefine the future of investment, education, and entertainment in India. Speaking at the global audio-visual and entertainment conclave, the CM announced investments and collaborations worth over ₹8,000 crore, alongside a series of landmark projects that are poised to transform Maharashtra’s economic and cultural landscape.

“I am happy that WAVES Summit was organised in Mumbai. People from all over the world say that a platform of this scale and quality has been set up for the first time,” Fadnavis said.

Among the major announcements was the launch of the WAVES INDEX, which the Chief Minister described as a strategic tool to serve as a profit base for the broader investment ecosystem. He also revealed the signing of MoUs with two prestigious international institutions — University of Western Australia and University of York — aimed at expanding avenues in education and skill development.

Fadnavis shared plans for a futuristic Edu-City, where 10 to 12 foreign universities will partner to deliver world-class education within India. “This will open new dimensions for Indian students and reduce dependence on foreign travel for quality education,” he said.

In the entertainment sector, Fadnavis announced a ₹2,000 crore investment by Godrej to develop a modern film city in Panvel, projected to create thousands of jobs and emerge as a global media production hub.

“Today, a total investment of ₹8,000 crore has been made and many important MoUs have been signed. But the value of this investment should not be seen only in figures, but in its multiplier effect, which will benefit the entire state in the coming years,” he concluded.
