Pune: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday announced the upcoming launch of Jalyukt Shivar 3.0, a new phase of the state’s flagship water conservation program. Speaking at an event in Pune, Fadnavis highlighted the scheme's impact on addressing water scarcity and enhancing sustainability.
“Certainly, there were a lot of benefits of the Jalyukt Shivar Scheme in the state,” Fadnavis said, reflecting on the success of the program’s earlier iterations. Launched during his previous tenure as Chief Minister, the scheme aimed to create decentralized water conservation systems to counter droughts and ensure sustainable irrigation.
Fadnavis elaborated on the program’s progression under the leadership of CM Eknath Shinde. “After CM Eknath Shinde came to power, we started Jalyukt Shivar 2.0. This second edition is now ending, and we are gearing up for phase three,” he stated.
Jalyukt Shivar 3.0, he explained, will focus on repairing and rejuvenating existing water conservation structures while introducing innovative methods to tackle water management challenges. “New dimensions of water conservation will be implemented to ensure long-term solutions for the state’s water needs,” he added.
