Mumbai: In a significant revelation during the Maharashtra Assembly session, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis alleged connections between Bharat Jodo and organizations previously identified as frontal outfits. Presenting records to support his claims, Fadnavis highlighted activities involving these groups during election campaigns.
“A meeting was held in Kathmandu on November 15, 2024. Some people from Bharat Jodo attended this. I have all the records of this,” Fadnavis stated. He further claimed that 180 organizations are associated with Bharat Jodo, out of which 40 actively conducted programs and published materials during the election period.
The Chief Minister referenced historical precedents, stating, “The then Home Minister RR Patil had mentioned 48 organizations as frontal organizations. On 18 February 2014, during the Manmohan Singh government, the Central Government named 72 frontal organizations in the Lok Sabha, out of which 7 are linked to Bharat Jodo.”
Fadnavis also referred to findings from the Anti-Naxal Operation, alleging that 13 organizations flagged by the agency have ties to Bharat Jodo. These remarks have sparked political debate, with critics accusing Fadnavis of politicizing intelligence reports and Bharat Jodo leaders denying the allegations.
The Bharat Jodo movement, often associated with promoting unity and addressing social issues, has drawn both support and scrutiny from various quarters. Fadnavis’s claims add another layer to the political discourse as Maharashtra continues to witness sharp ideological battles.
Opposition parties have demanded further clarification and evidence regarding the allegations. The issue is expected to dominate upcoming assembly debates and political discussions in the state.
