Ramnagar, Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during a visit to the iconic Jim Corbett National Park, reaffirmed Uttarakhand’s commitment to environmental conservation by announcing a series of afforestation initiatives. The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s vast green cover and underlined the importance of preserving its biodiversity.
“Corbett has tigers, leopards and various other animals. Uttarakhand has 70% forest area,” Dhami said, emphasizing the ecological significance of the state. He noted that Uttarakhand plays a key role in India’s conservation landscape, being home to several national parks, reserves, and wildlife corridors.
As part of the new initiative, Dhami announced the planting of thousands of trees across the national park. “We are planting many more trees here in the national park. 1,000 fruit-bearing trees will also be planted in every division of the park,” he said. The move aims to support the natural food chain for wildlife, improve forest health, and encourage biodiversity.
