MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday expressed profound grief over the passing of veteran actor and Padma Bhushan awardee Dharmendra, calling him one of the brightest stars of Indian cinema’s golden era. The Chief Minister said the legendary actor’s death has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of film lovers across the country.
Fondly recalling Dharmendra’s remarkable journey in Indian cinema, Fadnavis said the actor seamlessly transitioned from charming romantic roles to powerful and action-packed characters, eventually earning the title of Bollywood’s “He-Man.” “From playing dreamy, youthful romantic roles to powerful and intense characters, the veteran actor Dharmendra will forever remain in the memories of film lovers,” he said.
Fadnavis noted that Dharmendra’s demise is an immense personal loss for the Deol family and a moment of deep sorrow for his countless admirers. “We share in their grief and pray that God gives them the strength to bear this loss,” he said, adding that the nation joins the family in mourning the loss of the iconic artist.
He further stated that the Indian film industry has suffered “a tremendous loss” with Dharmendra’s passing. “We pay heartfelt homage to him,” the Chief Minister said, underscoring the actor’s lasting legacy and his contribution to shaping Indian cinema across decades.
