Gandhinagar, July 22: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the Space Applications Regional Meet in Gandhinagar on Tuesday, highlighting the increasing role of space technology in governance and development. The event forms part of the build-up to the upcoming National Conference on “Leveraging Space Technology for Viksit Bharat 2047,” scheduled to be held in New Delhi on August 22.
In his address, CM Patel underscored the transformative potential of satellite-based applications in enhancing administrative efficiency and citizen-centric governance. He said the initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of integrating cutting-edge technology into public service delivery.
The regional meet brought together representatives from Gujarat, Diu, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, alongside scientists and officials from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Key discussions focused on the application of satellite data in sectors such as agriculture, disaster management, water resources, and urban planning.
Participants also reviewed regional strategies and ongoing initiatives that utilize space-based inputs for planning and monitoring, with the aim of improving resilience, resource management, and service delivery.
