Patna – Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) National President Chirag Paswan on Wednesday announced that the birth anniversary of his father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan, on July 5 will be marked with the celebration of a growing initiative aimed at connecting the global Bihari community. The event, to be held at Urja Bhavan in Hajipur, will also serve as a platform for sharing key developments related to the Bihar International Trade Organisation (BITO).
Addressing the media in Patna, Paswan said, “The main reason for the meeting was related to my father’s birth anniversary, which we commemorate every year in Hajipur. This year, I will also speak in detail about BITO, which we began in October 2023 as a platform to connect non-resident Biharis who wish to contribute to Bihar’s growth.”
BITO, he said, aims to promote the idea of ‘Bihar First, Bihari First’ and is currently active in 17 countries. Plans are underway to expand its presence to 25 countries by the end of this year. “Through BITO, Biharis living abroad and eager to invest in infrastructure and developmental activities back home are being brought together under one umbrella,” Paswan added.
He noted that the initiative is not just economic but emotional—bridging generations of Biharis living overseas with their roots in the state. BITO is expected to focus on key sectors such as education, healthcare, rural development, and start-up investment.
