Patna: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan on Tuesday took aim at the opposition over caste-based politics, asserting that his party’s vision goes beyond traditional vote bank equations in Bihar.
Speaking to reporters, Paswan said, “EBC, OBC, Dalits and other castes may be in the mind of the assembly LoP (Tejashwi Yadav), but not us. I think of the people of Bihar as Biharis.” He criticized political opponents for, in his words, clinging to divisive strategies. “Those who wear the medal of 'MY' with pride will continue to talk about caste and do politics based on that,” he remarked.
Paswan, however, introduced his own interpretation of the “MY” formula, which has traditionally referred to the Muslim-Yadav vote base in state politics. “We also have a 'MY' equation, but for us, it stands for Mahila and Yuva,” he said, underscoring his party’s focus on women and youth as key drivers of Bihar’s development.
