Patna: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan hit out at the Mahagathbandhan alliance after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav suggested that the bloc could boycott the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections over the SIR (Special Investigation Report) exercise.

Responding to Yadav’s remark, Paswan said, “I dare them to do so, they are such political parties who can not even fight alone. The RJD, an old party of Bihar, does not have the courage to fight elections alone, they are in alliance with Congress… Congress also does not have the courage to fight alone here. Chirag Paswan did it in 2020.”

He accused the opposition alliance of resorting to fear-mongering ahead of the polls. “They are only trying to create fear. At the time of Lok Sabha elections, they were telling that the Constitution will be finished, reservation will end — has it happened?” he asked.

Drawing a parallel with earlier controversies, Paswan said the confusion over SIR was similar to the debate during the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests. “The kind of confusion being created about SIR is the same like what they did at the time of CAA,” he added.
