PATNA — Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Saturday expressed deep concern over the recent murder of businessman Gopal Khemka, calling the incident a serious reflection of deteriorating law and order in Bihar's capital. The killing, which took place in one of Patna’s upscale localities, has sparked widespread outrage and raised questions about public safety and police accountability.
Speaking to the media, Paswan said, “This is indeed a matter of concern. I will neither try to run away from this question, nor should our government attempt to do that. If such a huge incident can occur openly in an urban, posh area, it is a very serious matter.”
He confirmed being in direct contact with both the state government and the local administration regarding the case, but warned that such acts only intensify public fears. “If the family is scared, it is justified,” he said, highlighting that the Khemka family had reportedly faced threats in the past.
Importantly, Paswan questioned whether the local administration had provided adequate protection to the family, suggesting a serious lapse. “It was the responsibility of the administration,” he emphasized, calling for an immediate review of security measures and a transparent investigation into the murder.
