Patna: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan on Thursday endorsed the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) call for a Bihar bandh, which was observed until noon in protest against alleged derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during the Congress-led Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga.

Speaking to reporters, Paswan said the comments had deeply hurt public sentiments. “From the RJD-Congress platform, abusive words were used for Prime Minister Modi and his late mother, hurting sentiments. In protest against this, the NDA has called for this bandh today,” he said. He added that similar silence was observed when his own family faced abuse in the presence of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, claiming voters had already given their response in the Lok Sabha elections and would do so again in the upcoming assembly polls.

On economic matters, Paswan welcomed the GST reforms announced this week, calling them a significant relief measure. “I want to express my gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. Several issues related to my department required relief on GST for a long time. I am happy that today, relief has been provided to a large population,” he said.
