Raipur | Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday commemorated the 150th anniversary of India’s national song Vande Mataram, describing it as a timeless source of patriotic inspiration that united the nation during the freedom struggle.

Addressing an event in Raipur, Sai said, “Today is November 7. Vande Mataram was composed 150 years ago on this very day by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. The song became the fundamental mantra of the country’s independence.” He emphasized that Vande Mataram ignited the spirit of sacrifice among countless freedom fighters who gave their lives for India’s liberation.

“Singing Vande Mataram awakened patriotic sentiments in everyone’s heart, and raising this slogan, numerous great souls embraced the noose of the gallows for the country's freedom. Such power lies in this song,” the Chief Minister said.

Sai also shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for nationwide celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary, encouraging schools, universities, and offices across India to sing Vande Mataram. “This event will continue for a full year,” he said, urging citizens to honor the song’s legacy and the ideals of unity and devotion it represents.
