Haryana: Azad Samaj Party leader Chandrashekhar Azad on Saturday voiced sharp criticism and pledged support to the family of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer whose death in Haryana has sparked controversy. Azad questioned institutional safety and protested the state government’s handling of the post-mortem, saying the family was disrespected.
"Neither the President, the Chief Justice, nor an officer of ADGP level is safe in this country," Azad said, invoking the broader issue of safety for senior public figures. He added that he attended the site because, as he put it, the authorities attempted to conduct a post-mortem "without the family's consent — and to insult the grieving family."
Azad expressed his party’s commitment to stand by the bereaved relatives and to respect local community decisions. "We will not leave the family alone; they are ready to fight, and we are with them. We will abide by the Maha Panchayat's decision," he said, referring to a large local assembly convened to discuss the matter.
