Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and BJP leader Champai Soren responded to the Jharkhand Assembly election results, expressing surprise at the overwhelming mandate against the party. Despite the setback, he emphasized the importance of respecting the public’s decision.

“Never thought that such a mandate will come. However, we respect it. We will again go among people for the future of Jharkhand,” Soren said, indicating the BJP’s intention to regroup and reconnect with the electorate.

Acknowledging the challenges faced during the elections, Soren remarked, “What should have happened didn’t happen. The current government has absolute majority. We will see how the government has decided to work for the public.”

In a candid admission, the former CM hinted at introspection within the party. “We (BJP) must have made a mistake somewhere. Discussions are ongoing. I too wish to have a detailed discussion with central leadership on Jharkhand,” he added.

The BJP's defeat in Jharkhand marks a significant shift in the state's political landscape. Soren's remarks underline the need for strategic reevaluation and deeper engagement with the electorate to rebuild the party's presence in the state.

With the new government now holding an absolute majority, all eyes are on its approach to addressing the pressing issues of development and governance in Jharkhand. Meanwhile, the BJP is preparing to strengthen its base and chart a course for a comeback.
