The celebrations, he said, will continue throughout the coming year to honor the song’s historic role in India’s freedom struggle.

“During the freedom movement, 150 years ago on this very day under British rule, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee composed and sang the Vande Mataram song,” Reddy said while addressing a gathering in Hyderabad. “From this day, for the next one year, on behalf of the Government of India, we are going to organize various programs across the country.”

The Minister emphasized that the nationwide commemoration aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat—a developed and self-reliant India by 2047. “In line with the Prime Minister’s dream of making the country self-reliant and building a developed India by 2047, starting from this year, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, we will organize various programs,” Reddy said.
