Centre Team Meets CM Dhami to Review Monsoon Disaster Damage in Uttarakhand

An inter-ministerial team from the Government of India met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday to assess the extent of damage caused by recent monsoon-related disasters in the state. The meeting focused on reviewing the impact of landslides, floods, and waterlogging, which remain recurring challenges during the rainy season.

Chief Minister Dhami highlighted that Uttarakhand is highly sensitive to natural disasters due to its geographical and climatic conditions. He noted that excessive rainfall frequently leads to severe disruptions, threatening lives, property, and infrastructure in various districts.

During the discussions, the Chief Minister stressed the urgent need to strengthen disaster forecasting and early warning systems. He called for greater involvement of national-level institutions to enhance prediction accuracy and improve preparedness against landslides and other natural hazards. Dhami underlined that timely forecasts could significantly reduce the scale of damage and help authorities respond more effectively.
