Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving a crucial highway development project worth ₹720.67 crore aimed at improving connectivity in the state.
The sanctioned project covers the improvement of two key stretches—Dehradun–Lal Tapper–Nepali Farm and Nepali Farm–Motichur—on National Highway-7, totaling 36.82 kilometers. According to the Chief Minister, the project will significantly ease traffic congestion between Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh, particularly during the high-traffic Char Dham Yatra season.
In a social media post, Dhami wrote, “Heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to the respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri @nitin_gadkari ji… Completion of this work will provide relief from the jam between Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh during peak season and at the same time traffic will be smooth on the Chardham Yatra route.”
The project will also include the construction of additional service roads to separate local and highway traffic, a move that is expected to enhance safety and improve the overall traffic experience for both pilgrims and daily commuters.
Officials said the project will not only improve regional connectivity but also boost tourism, pilgrimage travel, and local economic activity by reducing travel time and enhancing road safety.
