New Delhi — In a major crackdown on corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Amit Kumar Singal and his associate in connection with an alleged bribery case involving ₹25 lakh. Subsequent searches at Singal’s residence led to the recovery of significant unaccounted assets, including around ₹1 crore in cash, 3.5 kilograms of gold, and 2 kilograms of silver.
The CBI conducted the operation after receiving credible inputs regarding Singal’s alleged role in soliciting bribes to extend undue favours. Officials confirmed that Singal and his associate were caught red-handed while accepting ₹25 lakh in cash from a complainant, prompting immediate searches at multiple locations linked to the accused.
During the raid at Singal’s residence, sleuths were stunned by the extent of the recovered wealth. “We have seized approximately ₹1 crore in cash, 3.5 kg of gold, and 2 kg of silver. These are in addition to digital evidence and incriminating documents also recovered,” a senior CBI official said.
