In a significant operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting searches at approximately 20 locations across three states: Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Bihar. This action is part of an ongoing investigation into organized illegal stone mining activities primarily concentrated in Jharkhand.
The CBI has identified several locations for searches, including three places in Ranchi, one in Gumla, and thirteen in Sahebganj, all in Jharkhand. In West Bengal, the agency is conducting searches at two locations in Kolkata, and one in Patna, Bihar.
So far, the CBI's efforts have resulted in the recovery of over Rs. 60 lakh in cash, more than 1 kg of gold, 1.2 kg of silver, and various gold ornaments. Additionally, authorities have seized multiple mobile phones, 61 live cartridges (9mm), sale deeds related to properties, documents tied to investments and shell companies, agreement papers, and other incriminating documents.
The investigation into illegal stone mining in Jharkhand has raised significant concerns about organized crime and corruption, prompting the CBI to take decisive action. The findings from the searches are expected to shed light on the extent of illegal mining operations and their associated networks in the region.
As the CBI continues its investigation, more details are likely to emerge regarding the individuals and entities involved in these illegal activities, and the agency is expected to take further actions based on the evidence gathered during the searches.
