Patna — Political strategist and Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor weighed in on the ongoing debate around caste politics in Bihar, stating that while caste plays a significant role, it is far from being the sole determinant of political outcomes in the state.

“Caste is a reality in India. It is the reality of society. The reality of society will be reflected in politics too; the degree can vary,” Kishor said in a recent interaction. He argued that societal elements like caste, corruption, or religious polarization inevitably seep into the political arena, as politics is but a reflection of the people and their lived experiences.

“If there is caste in society, there will be caste in politics too. If there is corruption in society, there will be corruption in politics too. If there is Hindu-Muslim sentiment in society, it will reflect in politics too,” Kishor explained, emphasizing that this phenomenon is not exclusive to Bihar but prevalent across the country.
