Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) will implement revised water tariffs starting April 10 in a move aimed at ensuring the board's financial sustainability, BWSSB Chairman Dr. Ram Prasath Manohar announced on Thursday.

The decision comes amid rising operational costs and increasing demand for water services across the city. However, officials have assured that the tariff adjustment has been structured to minimize the burden on the common citizen.

“This revision is essential for the economic health of the water board. While we are mindful of the impact on consumers, the changes have been designed in a balanced manner,” said Dr. Manohar.

An official notification detailing the new rates and applicable slabs is expected to be released on April 10. Sources within BWSSB indicate that the revised structure will likely include tiered pricing, with basic usage attracting lower charges and higher consumption falling under progressive tariffs.
