Bhubaneswar: In a recent statement, CD Aggarwal, the Inspector General (IG) of the Frontier Headquarters (Special Operations) of the Border Security Force (BSF), provided insights into the ongoing Naxalite activities in Odisha. While acknowledging the progress made in countering insurgency in the region, Aggarwal stated that roughly 250-300 Naxalites have been neutralized in the past 10-15 years.

"I don't have the exact data, but roughly 250-300 Naxalites were neutralized in Odisha in the last 10-15 years. There are a few Naxalites who are currently operating in Odisha, but most of them are outsiders," Aggarwal said.

The statement comes as part of the BSF’s ongoing efforts to curb the Naxalite insurgency in the state. Despite the significant reduction in local Naxalite presence, the influence of external operatives continues to pose a challenge to security forces.

Aggarwal's comments highlight the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between state and central agencies to address this security concern effectively. The BSF, alongside other forces, remains committed to neutralizing the threat posed by Naxalite groups in Odisha and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
