Jalgaon, Telangana | Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha has called on the Telangana government to table separate bills for Backward Class (BC) reservations in education, employment, and political representation instead of a single, unified bill.

Speaking on the Congress-led state government’s plan to introduce a 42% BC quota bill in the assembly, Kavitha emphasized the need for distinct legislative measures. “Congress government has said that they are going to introduce a BC bill in the assembly. We demand that they do not introduce a unified bill for employment, education, and political reservation together,” she said.

She argued that individual bills would ensure better clarity and implementation. “We are demanding a separate bill for education reservations for BC, for employment reservations for backward classes, and for political reservations of backward classes,” she stated.

Kavitha also raised concerns over the recently conducted BC census in Telangana, questioning its accuracy. “This government has done the census. We are all having reservations about the census numbers, but as they promised, 42% political reservation has to be given, and that should be tabled as a separate bill,” she asserted.

Referring to the government’s claim that BCs constitute 46% of the state’s population, she insisted that reservations in employment and education should match that figure. “We believe there are more in number, but yet, 46% employment reservations should be tabled separately. Similarly, 46% education reservation for BC students should be tabled separately,” she demanded.
