Hyderabad | Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha has launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led Telangana government, accusing it of failing to safeguard the state's water interests amidst the shifting of the Godavari-Cauvery river linkage project to Polavaram in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kavitha (@RaoKavitha) alleged that the Congress government lacks the political will and courage to challenge the Andhra Pradesh administration, now under the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), over what she termed as a critical issue of inter-state water sharing.
“The project has been shifted to Polavaram in Andhra Pradesh, putting Telangana’s rightful share of water at risk,” she said. “The Congress keeps lying to the people. This move will severely impact Telangana’s future water resources.”
The Godavari-Cauvery linkage project, a large-scale national river interlinking plan, is aimed at redistributing water from surplus to deficit basins. However, the BRS has repeatedly raised concerns that Telangana’s interests are being sidelined in the process.
