Ranchi: Congress leader BK Hariprasad took a sharp dig at the BJP, accusing it of failing to protect Dalit women despite its "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" slogan. Speaking in Ranchi, he contrasted BJP's alleged shortcomings with the welfare initiatives being implemented in Jharkhand under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
“BJP talks about 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,' but Dalit women are being tortured. What is this government doing?” Hariprasad questioned, highlighting what he described as the government's failure to address the plight of marginalized communities.
He commended the efforts of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government in supporting women through initiatives like the Maiya Samman Yojana. “In Jharkhand, many women are getting help under the Maiya Samman Yojana,” he added, emphasizing the tangible benefits provided to women in the state.
Hariprasad also expressed confidence in JMM’s performance in the ongoing elections, stating that the tribal population strongly backs the Soren-led administration. “JMM is fighting the elections strongly; all the tribals have faith that Hemant Soren will do better work. That is why we will get good results,” he remarked.
With the state witnessing intense political battles, Hariprasad’s comments reflect the Congress-JMM alliance’s strategy of focusing on welfare measures and tribal support to counter the BJP’s influence. The elections are expected to be closely contested, with governance and welfare policies playing a crucial role in swaying voters.
