New Delhi, 16 August — BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh has launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the party’s leadership, accusing them of undermining constitutional institutions and showing “disrespect” during national occasions.

“Rahul Gandhi has become a habitual offender. On every national festival, he disrespects constitutional institutions out of habit,” Chugh said in a statement on Friday. He alleged that for the first time, both the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Congress president distanced themselves from Independence Day celebrations.

Chugh also targeted the Congress for inviting senior leader Jagdish Tytler, who has been linked to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, to a party function. “On the other hand, they invited Jagdish Tytler, the main accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, to an event. The country wants to know why the Congress is silent on the killings of people from the Sikh community,” he remarked.
