New Delhi: BJP National Spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti following her latest remarks, arguing that her political influence has eroded significantly since the abrogation of Article 370. Speaking to reporters in the national capital, Islam alleged that Mufti was attempting to “prove her relevance” by issuing statements that he claimed were aimed at courting public attention.
He asserted that the central government maintains a “zero tolerance” policy toward terrorism, and accused Mufti of making comments that could be interpreted as sympathetic to extremist elements. “She is completely an irrelevant politician and is trying to prove her relevance through such statements,” Islam said. “She thinks she can attract the public by making statements in favour of it, but people have rejected such politics.”
According to Islam, the developmental changes and security improvements that he attributed to the removal of Article 370 have contributed to a shift in public sentiment in Jammu and Kashmir. “Since the people now benefit from the abrogation of Article 370 under the leadership of the Prime Minister, such politicians are losing their relevance among people,” he added.
