Patna, Bihar: Reacting sharply to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s remark referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “Jhuthon ka Sardar,” BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Monday accused the Congress of spreading falsehoods and ignoring Bihar’s visible progress under the NDA government.

“They used a derogatory term for the PM, ‘Jhuthon ka Sardar’,” Trivedi said, addressing a press conference in Patna. “I want to ask Kharge Ji and Tejashwi Yadav—when our government came to power, Bihar’s per capita income was ₹6,900 and today it is ₹66,000. Is that a lie?” he questioned.

Listing key development indicators, Trivedi added, “When we came to power, Bihar’s budget was ₹23,000 crore, and today it stands at ₹3,70,000 crore. Is that a lie? Before we came to power, electricity reached only 22% of Bihar; today it covers 100%. Is that a lie?”

He also pointed out that even former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had praised Nitish Kumar in 2013 for Bihar’s development. “Is that also a lie?” Trivedi asked, further noting that there is now one operational AIIMS in Patna and another under construction in Darbhanga.

Taking a dig at the opposition, he said, “Congress keeps changing its stance over time, but the only thing that never changes is that Congress always lies. They land at Patna Airport every day—does the change not appear to them? There is no cure for political night blindness.”
